What type of aerial do I need?
Aerials are classified into two types: grouped aerials and wideband aerials.TV Aerial Installation Wheldrake recommend that you use a wideband aerial for the best results. These, also known as Type T (for ‘total’ or Type W (for ‘wideband,’ cover the entire range of signals used to transmit digital TV and continue to work even if your TV signals change.
Most aerials replaced within the last 10 years are likely to be wideband aerials. This can differ based on where you live. More information can be found on the aerial support pages on the BBC and Ofcom websites. Depending on where you live, a wideband aerial might be able to help you to receive certain channels on Freeview such as BBC Four HD, Freesports, BBC News HD and Forces TV.
To check what channels are predicted to be available in your area, use our Freeview channel checker before you consider consulting any qualified aerial installer. Loft aerials or portable indoor aerials may work in areas where there is good reception, but they can be subject to electrical interference from other domestic appliances.
What if I share a communal aerial?
Aerials are divided into two types: grouped aerials and wideband aerials. TV Aerial Installation Wheldrake recommends using a wideband aerial for the best results. Also known as Type T (for ‘total’) or Type W (for ‘wideband,’ these cover the entire range of signals used to transmit digital TV and continue to work even if your TV signals change.

TV Aerial Installation Wheldrake feels that The size of the TV you want to mount to the wall can influence the price of TV wall mounting. This is because a smaller TV can be safely mounted by one professional installer, whereas larger and heavier TVs often require two TV installers to safely lift and secure it in place. Another factor that may influence the cost of your installation is that extra techniques may be required to safely mount your TV to the wall. Plywood installed behind plasterboard, for example, or specialised fixings may be required.
It is also worth noting that larger TVs simply take longer to mount, from taking the TV out of the box to attaching the bracket to the TV. Finally, brackets for larger TVs are generally more expensive than brackets for smaller TVs. This is especially noticeable with full motion wall brackets, where the price difference between TV wall mounting quotes can be hundreds of pounds.
Type Of Wall
The type of wall on which you want the TV mounted can also influence the cost of TV mounting installation. Some distinctions include solid walls made of brick/plaster, dry-lined walls made of plasterboard stuck on top of brickwork, and stud walls made of hollow walls secured to wooden or metal studs. Each type necessitates different fixings and techniques, and many TV wall mounting companies will refuse to mount TVs to plasterboard walls, but please be assured that there is nothing to fear if done correctly. TV Aerial Installation Wheldrake previously blogged about how to safely secure TVs to stud walls.

So depending on what TV you have will depend on what you need doing and TV Aerial Installation Wheldrake will help you choose the correct TV Bracket.
